Brivis Evaporative Cooling Repair

Heating and cooling repairs aren’t always straightforward, but there’s no need to worry too much. There are many ways to repair your Brivis evaporative cooling system before we transition into the warmer days.

This article will discuss tips for repair, and how to maintain your AC so it doesn’t need these repairs in future.

How Does Your Evaporative Cooling Work?

Evaporative Cooling Work

The amount of cooling available from any type of cooling system depends on the outside weather conditions.

Your Brivis AC works best on hot, dry days, and it is essential to provide the right amount of ventilation by opening/windows whenever the cooler is operating. Air is drawn in through the filter pads, resulting in 100% fresh, cool air entering your property.

The movement of this cooled air draws the heat out of your house, so be sure that doors or windows are open to expel this heat to the outside.

Before operating your cooler, there needs to be enough airflow! If you wish to concentrate your cooling to a select area, concentrate all the ventilation in the targeted areas.

What’s Done During a Brivis Evaporative Cooling Service?

The Brivis Advance Series

  • > Check the filter pad for holes or deterioration. These pads deteriorate over time and lose their water absorption ability, so replace them as needed.
  • > Clean the tank and internal surfaces.
  • > Clean the filter pads and flush them with water.
  • > With the filter pads in position, switch on the power supply isolating switch and operate the unit.
  • > Ensure that the pump is operating and visually check the pads externally for even water distribution.
  • > Ensure the water inlet is operating correctly.
  • > Check that the water supply pressure is sufficient to fill the tank within the allotted time.
  • > Check that the fan works and varies speed between the minimum and maximum settings on the Wall Control.
  • > Check and lubricate all moving parts.
  • > On Brivis Contour Series and some Advance Series models, ensure the ServoSeal damper mechanism is opening and closing.

Here are some further troubleshooting questions if you think your Brivis needs a repair.

Why is water continually running while the unit is on? All Brivis AD models use the “bleed off” method for tank water quality control. This will rid the cooler of any salt or sediments and allow for the tank to be topped with clean water.

Why does the unit dump water periodically during operation? Brivis Advance and Brivis Promina coolers use a “running refresh” method for tank water quality control. This ensures the salt or sediments accumulating in the cooler don’t exceed an acceptable level.

There is no air coming out of some of the vents. It is probable that this is an installation issue. Contact your installer as soon as possible.

Why does the air smell different? New cooling pads can give off a mild odour while they are settling in. It will dissipate quickly as the new pad is constantly flushed during use. In this case, the unit may need a service.

What does duct cleaning look like? Remove dust from your cooling system, kill potential dust mites, remove odours from your cooling system, clean the cooler fan and assembly, and clean the supply air diffusers.

Why doesn’t the cooler turn on when the current time and room temperature is displayed, yet the word “cooler” is not? Your Brivis cooler has lost communication with your Networker wall controller. A service call is required.

How far should your cooler be away from sanitary vents? The unit should be at least a 5-metre radius away from a sanitary outlet.

Should the unit have its own circuit in the meter box? Yes. We recommend that the power socket is wired back to the meter box on a dedicated power circuit.

Why is there condensation and moisture on my tiles? Make sure the vents are directed across the room and not towards the floor. Sufficient doors and windows must be open, and if it is a humid day, turn the pump off.

Can you run heating through the same ductwork as the evaporative cooler? No. The different technology between ducted heating and evaporative cooling doesn’t allow the units to share the same ductwork. Evaporative cooling needs a larger ductwork for airflow.

What are the benefits of regularly servicing your Brivis evaporative cooler?

The system will last a whole lot longer. A service works as a routine checkup, but it’s also investing in the future of your system. It will run for years to come.

More energy efficient. Even the best systems experience wear and tear! A service slices your energy consumption and bills, so you’re paying less, which benefits your bank account. When the components are functioning properly, the Brivis AC works at optimal efficiency.

You won’t pay for as many repairs down the line. A random breakdown is stressful (and pricey if the AC needs to be fully replaced), so a service sorts these issues

Your cooler should be serviced at two-year intervals after the date of installation by a qualified, licensed technician. Failure to do so during the product warranty period may void your warranty.

For example, the Brivis controller has a spanner symbol which reminds you that it’s time for a service, or it might signal there’s an issue with your unit. Press the Fn button followed by key 1 on your controller.

If the display is reading “fan run hours indicate it’s time for a service call”, the unit is due for a service! Any other message means there’s a broader issue, such as a malfunction.
